A few months late, but welcome to the Wii U Sales Update 8. The weeks since I last posted a update have been brutal for the Wii U, sales are down to about 22-25K a week worldwide, and the PS3 and 360 sales finally took over the Wii U's. But now finally relief is coming, Pikmin 3 launches in Japan on July 12th (I'll make a special when the sales data comes out). While Pikmin 3 won't single handedly save the Wii U (it is a niche game after all), it will make the sales go up. And I believe by looking at those sales numbers we can make an educated guess on how much the Wii U sales will go up when bigger titles such as Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze come out. Meaning in less than a week we may know whether the Wii U is doomed to GameCube-like sales or a 3DS-like come back (or something in between).
